Hojicha Gut Friendly Overnight Chia Pudding
Share
A make-ahead ritual for anyone who wants something ready the moment they wake up. Chia seeds are already a gut-friendly staple, and steeping them in a hojicha-infused milk adds a subtle roasted flavor that plain overnight oats or chia pudding usually lack. Low effort the night before, genuinely satisfying in the morning.
Ingredients
- 1 tbsp Queen Omi Hojicha Powder
- 2 tbsp hot water
- 1 cup milk of choice (oat or coconut milk recommended)
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- Optional toppings: sliced banana, toasted coconut flakes, a drizzle of honey
Why chia seeds?
Chia seeds are low in digestible carbs and rich in soluble fiber, which slows how quickly sugar is absorbed into your bloodstream. That means this pudding delivers a much gentler blood sugar rise than a typical sugary breakfast — the fiber does the work, not the soak time (that part's just for texture).
Instructions
- Whisk the hojicha powder with hot water until fully dissolved into a concentrate.
- In a jar or bowl, combine the hojicha concentrate with the milk and honey, stirring well.
- Add the chia seeds and stir thoroughly, making sure none are clumped together.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours), stirring once after the first 30 minutes to prevent clumping.
- In the morning, give it a final stir and top as desired.
Note: If the pudding seems too thick after chilling, stir in a splash of milk to loosen it back up before serving.
